How can we as Orthodox Christians bring more people to our Churches? We are called to be disciples of the Word but how do we do this without coming across as pushy or preachy? This approach does not work well generally and can lead to actually driving people away. We hear that the Orthodox Church is the fastest growing Church in North America, yet our local parishes are struggling to stay open. This is especially true in the smaller centers as well as our rural parishes. With this part of the world (Western Hemisphere) dominated by Roman Catholic and the thousands of Protestant denominations this is a huge challenge for us. Also how do we get more young people to come to Church? Jesus Christ did not directly go after people to "convert'" them. They came to Him. This is the example for all of us but how can this be done other than the usual advertising in newspapers, charity work, and internet websites? Your comments are welcomed.

What are your thoughts, concerns, questions, etc about the upcoming Great Council of the Orthodox Church this summer in Crete? There has been much talk about this, as well as many rumors and spin. Some will be justified. This is a great place for discussion on this historic event.
We are a small parish located in Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada. We are part of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. We started this website and this blog in order to inform people about us and Orthodoxy in general. Feel free to join the discussion.
